This heritage infill development in Vancouver’s West End involves relocating and modernizing two Class B Heritage Buildings, originally built in 1902 and 1908. One of these buildings was one of the area’s first mixed-use properties, housing a neighborhood grocery owned by Kate Fleming, one of Vancouver’s first female entrepreneurs.
In the space created at the rear of the lot, a modern “Tokyo Infill” building was constructed, featuring a two-bedroom suite. The existing buildings now house a mix of two- and three-bedroom units, totaling 5 market rental units. The development retained an updated commercial space with a heritage facade along Cardero Street.
